Hello, all!

My name is Victoria! I’m the visionary & creative behind Gifts of Gaia!

We opt to make products with locally-grown or wildcrafted herbs as often as possible. All of our packaging materials for shipping are up-cycled, recyclable, and / or biodegradable.

My love for the Earth runs deep. Time and time again I’ve been humbled by the Gifts of our Earth Mother, Gaia. She has held me, healed me, and allowed me to tap into my true nature. Connecting with the spirit of the natural world has sparked such curiosity and devotion for living in health and harmony, and I’m thrilled to share with all of you the foundational herbal formulas that have assisted me along the path.

I often hear the question, “How did you get into herbalism?”

Where did it all begin?

It all started with a cup of Lemon Balm tea, and a smidgen of curiosity…

I’ve been exploring healthy living through plant medicine, nutrition, yoga, breath work, and music since 2016. The realm of holistic health was the light at the end of the dark tunnel I was journeying through. I had an initial awakening that allowed me to experience the sentient being that is the Earth, a “coming to God” type of moment, if you will. It sparked a desire to protect and connect to our ecosystems, to be a voice for our Earth, to be in service to life on Earth in some way; but I didn’t yet know how that would play out - and that story is still being written.

After being enrolled in the environmental protection program and the horticulture program at the University for 2 years, I quickly became disheartened with lectures that were hyper-focused on the issues and very little focused on the solutions. I knew I wanted to be a part of the solution. On top of struggling with chronic health imbalances, inability to focus and retain information, and a sense of stagnation in the community, I decided to change my method of study. I enrolled in a course in Costa Rica at the Punta Mona Center for Regenerative Studies. The course was called Permaculture for the Herbalist’s Path. 100 hours of Permaculture with 75 hours focused on Herbalism. “This is a start…” I thought.

During the summer and fall before going to Costa Rica I went back home and worked as a nanny. The woman I nannied for was a health-conscious, herbal-loving, wise-woman and she had poured a lot of love into her gardens of medicinal perennial herbs and annual vegetables. I spent a lot of time in the gardens and became very curious about a special plant that was prolific on her land…

It was Lemon Balm! Upon reading about this plant’s benefits in an old herbal, I realized that this plant had actions that were indicated for my chronic symptoms. Little did I know, this plant was going to be an ally of mine. So, I gathered some Lemon Balm, made some tea, and sat to sip. As my taste buds absorbed the sweetness of Lemon Balm, my mind brightened and my body relaxed… This was my initial “Aha!” moment. That is when I first skimmed the surface of herbal medicine. I’m now a forever student of the plants and the incredible teachers I’ve learned from over the years.

My studies have deepened over the years through at-home self study, learning from and working with other herbalists, and through the Vitalist Herbalism Practitioner Program with Sajah Popham from The School of Evolutionary Herbalism. I’m now weaving my interest in Holistic Nutrition into my studies, studying to become a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant to build on my foundation to truly help others holistically, through approaching food, plants, and lifestyle choices as medicine.

I’ve been honored to weave the plant medicines into my local community now for multiple years now. I see how thirsty folks are for a sense of connection to the old remedies that have walked alongside humanity for thousands of years. It is an art and a practice of remembering. I find myself forging new relationships and tending old ones, with the plants and the people that circle around them; ever-so grateful for the plants leading me on this path.

Since I’ve found herbalism and begun to experience the ancient, complex, and very tangible relationship between plants, fungi, and people; my life has transformed in innumerable ways. I’ve felt a calling to bridge the gap between plants and people, through this medium and in other spaces. Let’s be real, there’s always been a bridge, but to make this bridge more accessible and more apparent, is what drives this project!

Not only do plants interact with the physiology of the human being, but they also weave their magic and healing into our spiritual, emotional, and energetic bodies. Plants have an innate intelligence and they know us really well! We can commune with these intelligent beings in so many ways! Whether it be through a warm cup of tea, a few drops of tincture, or an herbal skin care formula, my wish is that you, too, can experience the magic and healing of herbs and fungi.
